McGregor names Chandler as a possible UFC opponent
Conor McGregor He is going through one of the most turbulent moments in his personal life, but he is not thinking about retiring from MMA. In November, in Ireland, the former UFC champion was found guilty by the jury in the case of sexual assault against Nikita Hand, which occurred in 2018. However, 'Notorious' is not at risk of being arrested as it is a social charge and non-criminal. Therefore, the athlete is free to return to compete in the company and targets an old acquaintance.
At least this time, McGregor didn't hold back and named Michael Chandler as his opponent. It all started when the Irishman praised himself, highlighting the number of knockouts he achieved in his career in mixed martial arts (22 wins with 18 via knockout), and indicated that he spoke to Dana White.
Paying attention to his rival, the American made a point of reminding him of a conversation they had when they starred in TUF 31, in 2023. According to 'Iron', Conor classified it as his 20th knockout in MMA. Therefore, Chandler asked the Irishman again to carry out the fight between them. Interestingly, this time, McGregor adopted a respectful stance when interacting with the athlete, even using his catchphrase.
“And you! Rest and I'll see you at the top!”, wrote the former UFC champion in a post now deleted from his official account on 'X', but recovered by the website 'MMA Fighting'.
Confidence on the rise
Despite not fighting since 2021, McGregor ignores his bad phase and guarantees that he will make a triumphant return to the UFC. In fact, Dana White, president of the company, signaled that the return of the former featherweight (66 kg) and lightweight (70 kg) champion to the Octagon should take place at the end of 2025.
