Pantoja reaches the top 10 of the weight-for-pound rankings after UFC 310
Last Saturday (7), in the main fight of UFC 310, in Las Vegas (USA), Alexandre Pantoja submitted Kai Asakura, defended the flyweight belt (57 kg) and, as a bonus, pocketed the 'Performance of the Night' bonus '. Extremely praised by Dana White after the event, the Brazilian champion continues to reap the rewards of his most recent victory in the most famous octagon in the world. That's because in the most recent Ultimate ranking update, the athlete from Arraial do Cabo (RJ) gained more space and visibility in the organization's weight-for-weight list.
Previously in 11th position on the list that classifies the best fighters in the world regardless of weight category, Pantoja rose two positions and is now in ninth place, entering the top 10 of the esteemed ranking. With the most recent moves, announced by the UFC itself through its social networks (see below or click here), the flyweight champion left behind two big names on the league's roster: Alexander Volkanovski and Leon Edwards.
Records and dominance in flyweight
With his third successful title defense, Pantoja has established himself as one of the most dominant champions on the current UFC roster. Furthermore, the Brazilian is getting closer and closer to Demetrious Johnson, considered the 'GOAT' of the flyweights. With his triumph via rear naked choke against Kai Asakura in the main fight of UFC 310, the Brazilian equaled the number of 'DJ' victories in the category (13) and also equaled the number of interruptions – knockout or submission – achieved by the UFC veteran , with seven in totalidade.
