UFC: Brazilian beats athlete who innovated by asking for a spot and is hired
The 'Brazilian Squadron' gained a new member in Ultimate. Last Saturday (14), in South Korea, Matheus Camilo He beat Dorobshokh Nabotov, a fighter who broke new ground by asking for a spot in the UFC directly from Dana White, and impressed the big man. So much so that the president of the largest MMA organization in the world announced the signing of the athlete.
In October, at the pre-UFC 308 press conference in Abu Dhabi (UAE), Nabotov, a professional fighter who was in the audience, took the opportunity to ask for a spot in the company. Surprised by the athlete's initiative, Dana later informed that if he managed to win in 'Z-Fight Night', a league led by Chan Sung Jung, he could win a contract with Ultimate.
However, Matheus was in Dorobshokh's path and shone in action. At the event, the Brazilian controlled his rival, won by unanimous decision and not only thwarted his plans, but also won a contract with the UFC. After watching the duel, Dana was impressed with Camilo's performance, praised the fighter and welcomed him to the organization.
“I chose the other guy. He won the fight, looked great and was the more complete fighter. The other kid seemed very one-dimensional and the Korean Zombie told me that he had a lot of problems with him throughout the week, threatening to pull out of the fight if he didn't get more people in his corner and crazy things like that. So, everything happened the way it should”, declared the top hat at the post-UFC Tampa press conference.
Matheus' MMA record
Matheus Camilo, 23 years old, is a promise in MMA. The Brazilian began his career in the sport in 2019. In the sport, the athlete from Acre built a record consisting of nine wins and two defeats. His main triumph was against Dorobshokh Nabotov.
